Gigabit Ethernet Camera

DALSA Corp., Waterloo, ON, Canada, has introduced a GigE Vision®-compliant camera called the Genie HC Series. Typical applications include electronic manufacturing inspection, intelligent traffic systems (ITS), and food inspection. The series is comprised of three high-speed color camera models: Genie HC640 up to 300 fps in full resolution (640 × 480); Genie HC1024 up to 117 fps in full resolution (1024 × 768); and Genie HC1400 up to 75 fps in full resolution (1400 × 1024). Additional features include global electronic shutter with exposure control and on-board flat-field correction. The camera acts as a single machine vision component, integrating both the camera and board image acquisition in one package.

altGenie FrameworkTM software contains tools needed for application integration and setup. The system also features a ruggedized RJ45 connector suited for robotics applications. The cameras are based on the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) GigE Vision Standard to directly link the camera to a PC. They transmit data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100 m, allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system.
