TRIAC Dimmable LED Driver

The new design example (DER-302) from Power Integrations (San Jose, CA) describes a non-isolated, high-efficiency, high power factor (PF), TRIAC dimmable LED driver designed to drive a nominal LED string voltage of 36 V at 200 mA from an input voltage range of 185 VAC to 265 VAC (47 Hz — 65 Hz).

DER-302 features include single-stage power factor correction combined with constant current (CC) output and flicker-free operation with a wide selection of TRIAC dimmers with ratings from 300 W to 1200 W.

DER-302 rovides output current even at very low conduction angles (no dead band); low-cost, low-component count; small size and single-sided PCB; and high efficiency of >87% at 230 VAC input for 36-V LED load.
