Rotary Actuator

altPangolin Laser Systems (Orlando, FL) has introduced the VRAD-1510 low-power rotary actuator based on a dual-coil, segmented stator design. It can be used in electromechanical applications such as automotive, industrial machinery, robotics, HVAC, and valve control. The actuator incorporates a magnetic spring and preloaded ball bearings. The design eliminates the need for mechanical stops on shaft rotation. The coils may be driven in series, in parallel, or separately. The actuator is equipped with front and rear shafts, allowing multiple points of attachment or the use of an encoder or position sensor for closed-loop operation. The stator design uses a series of asymmetrical, interleaved laminations that fit together in a way that prevents the introduction of air gaps to the motor’s magnetic field.
