Doppler Lidar Signal Processing Suite (DLiSPS)

DLiSPS is a collection of software modules that processes lidar data and displays/archives the output products. It has the same features as the real-time version written in C++, except the hardware control capability, with many other functionalities for off-line lidar signal processing. DLiSPS is written in LabVIEW and provides many critical lidar data analysis tools, featuring novel algorithms that were developed in-house.DLiSPS complements the real-time C++ version that can control the validation lidar (VALIDAR) system and process live lidar data, and offers many additional off-line data processing features. Since it does not have processing speed restriction, newly developed algorithms can easily be tested in DLiSPS to explore the eligibility for real-time implementation. The suite includes a novel Doppler shift estimation method called Left-Sided Doppler shift estimation techniques (LS-NADSET), and has been used in field lidar data analysis missions. It also includes novel techniques in estimating the accurate background noise level in order to estimate the signal and the noise energy for differential absorption lidar (DIAL) applications.
A user can analyze lidar data off-line for both wind profiling and DIAL applications with DLiSPS. The suite allows users to display the results in various ways to achieve maximal efficiency in delivering output products. The suite also has an intuitive user interface to help users understand the results quickly and easily. Due to the structure of the suite, new modules can be added with minimal integration time.
