Typically, this is due to battery failure, since standard batteries are rated to last a few months at extreme temperatures.

By contrast, Falcon Electric’s SSG® Series UPS carry a UL, cUL and CE listing for operation in extreme temperatures (-20°C to 55°C and -30°C to 65°C) and are designed to operate over a wide range of temperatures.  For example the batteries are designed to last 4 years at 50°C and up to 12 years at room temperature (77°F).
