To support the Ares-1, an in-line, two-stage rocket configuration topped by the Orion crew vehicle and its launch abort system, Data Device Corp. will supply NASA’s System Integration and Software Development Labs with BU-67106K MIL-STD-1553 PCI-Express cards.

DDC’s PCI-Express card, suitable for applications requiring access to a MIL-STD-1553 data bus, is designed to interface with PCIe slots in standard desktop computers. Its eight digital and eight avionics discrete I/Os create multiple options for testing applications, and DDC’s test software API allows embedded designs to be generated from a common source.

The BU-67106K PCI-Express card is built upon DDC’s AceXtremeTM 1553 core, offering up to four dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553 channels operating in Bus Controller or Multi-RT modes. Each mode has the ability to run a concurrent Bus Monitor (MT). The card, which has a native PCI-Express design that does not require restrictive PCI-E to PCI bridging, also features software-configurable bus coupling and termination options, an onboard direct memory access (DMA) engine, Message Signaled Interrupt (MSI) support, and an IRIG-B Time Code and Time Tag Clock input and output.
