Heidenhain (Schaumburg, IL) offers the Leine & Linde heavy-duty incremental Model 862 encoder that is resistant to high vibration and shock, and is electrically insulated up to 2.5 kV. The severe-duty encoders are suited for drive and measurement applications. The encoder meets standards according to IEC 68-2-6 and IEC 68-2-27. It comes with short-circuit-protected outputs, including reverse polarity protection, and measures 67 mm high and 99 mm in diameter.

Also available with the encoder is the optional ADS (Advanced Diagnostics System). The encoder is plugged into a PC via the serial port, and information can be downloaded by the encoder itself including data such as the highest temperature reached and hours of operation. Standard line counts include 1000, 1024, 2048, 2500, 3072, 4096, and 5000 with high-current HTL and HTL outputs. The hollow shaft is offered with three standard configurations: 12-mm and 16-mm diameters, and 17-mm taper.
