A magnetically actuated linear displacement sensor from Turck, Minneapolis, MN, the Q25L, detects piston position on pneumatic cylinders. Suited for applications requiring precise signal transmission over long measuring distances, it is available with measuring ranges of 100, 125, 160, and 200mm. By utilizing an external magnet as a position indicator, the sensor can be used in additional applications such as moving platforms, point line measurement, or other specially designed equipment where a cylinder is not present.

Based on a Hall element, the sensor works with a repeatable accuracy of less than 0.1% of the measuring range and a linear deviation of less than 1% full scale. The sensor’s small blind zone — 2.5 mm on each end — makes it easy to use in space-restricted areas.
