NASA is installing Quintron’s Sub-MUX multi-channel communications system at two locations: Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, and Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. The first installation at Stennis will complete the required capacity at the SSC A1 Test Stand, and includes a Sub-MUX chassis and 11 user stations (four hazardous-duty wall-mount units and seven control-room rack units).
The Marshall order supplies Sub-MUX equipment for three test facilities. The equipment includes three Sub-MUX chassis and 49 user stations (36 hazardous-duty wall-mount and 13 control-room rack units). The missions at these three locations are testing rocket components and subassemblies, cryogenic tanks used on both rockets and payloads, and testing of materials in extreme heat environments. The new DICES systems replace analog equipment in use since the 1960s, and will introduce expanded communications capabilities and hazardous operations certification.
The initial delivery of equipment for Stennis Space Center two years ago included nine chassis, 162 hazardous-duty wall-mount units, and 83 control-room rack-mount user stations.
