Nonlinear Response Optimization: Rapidly Design New Structures Incorporating Real World Loading
- Wednesday, 24 April 2013
Many structures in the real world experience and exhibit nonlinear behavior. The nonlinearity may be due to material behavior, large deformations or contacts experienced during loading. This Webinar will focus on new optimization approaches for obtaining superior designs while incorporating nonlinear responses.
The Altair HyperWorks suite includes OptiStruct, a market-leading structural analysis and optimization software that allows engineers to rapidly synthesize and optimize design structures. Engineers are able to leverage advanced simulation capabilities for material, geometric and contact nonlinearities while using different optimization approaches like topology, topography, size and shape. The results are lightweight and efficient, cost-effective designs with reduced development timing and cost.
Speaker: David J. Mason, Vice President, Global Automotive, Altair
David Mason is responsible for the automotive vertical in Altair’s Global Markets Team, which is responsible for business strategy and development along with the sharing of best practices (software and services) both internally and externally in key global markets. Previously he was Managing Director of Altair’s U.K. office. He joined the company in 1994 and has led project teams in diverse disciplines including the development of vehicle systems, CAE, vehicle build and test projects, test data analysis, and custom software development. Before joining Altair, he worked as a Product Engineer at General Motors. David holds master’s degrees from the University of Michigan in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics.
Speaker: Warren Dias, Business Development Manager, Altair
Warren Dias has been working with Altair for over 11 years now. He started his career with Altair as an Application Engineer and has since held positions as Technical Manager, Application Specialist for Optimization and Product Manager for OptiStruct. His experience includes working with different industries, like automotive, aerospace, electronics, and rail, with a focus on design optimization. Warren is now the Business Development Manager for OptiStruct, Altair's optimization-driven structural analysis solver.
