Analyzing Mechanical Design Behavior: A Focus on Simulation Software Meshing Attributes & Accuracy


Many factors will influence the quality and the accuracy of your structural simulation model. Meshing is amongst the most important ones and requires some attention from the user, even when using automated meshing procedures.

This presentation will describe meshing related practices you can use to achieve and control the accuracy of your solution such as geometry based meshing controls, local refinement, automated mesh adaptivity or submodeling techniques for locally increased accuracy. We will also discuss the indicators you can look at in order to assess the quality of your results. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session.

Pierre Thieffry joined ANSYS, Inc. in 2002 serving different positions related to structural mechanics and optimization. He is now product manager for the structural mechanics portfolio. Pierre holds an engineering degree and PhD in mechanical engineering from the French Institute for Advanced Mechanics (IFMA) in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
