The automotive industry is moving rapidly from driver assistance applications to safety-critical perception systems that independently make decisions. These perception systems need to be able to reliably detect the orientation and the type of target in any environmental condition. This 30-minute Webinar examines a new polarimetric radar sensor for autonomous and highly automated drive applications. Experts discuss how this technology will dramatically improve the performance and reliability of automotive sensor suites in all environmental conditions.

The new circular polarimetric radar sensor significantly improves the object classification and orientation detection capability of automotive radar technology. It combines polarimetric pattern identification, improved detection probability, high-resolution technology, and very fast signal processing to allow the sensor to recognize the silhouette of targets as well as specific details such as door handles, rear-view mirrors, wheel houses, etc.
