To achieve exacting performance requirements, “Smittie” technology produces predictable bi-axial or mono-axial orientation in polymer materials. The system eliminates expensive equipment, curbs energy use, reduces the need for highly skilled labor, and shortens setup times.

With the new process, artificially cooled rollers are not required for stretching the material as it cools. Resin is reduced by up to 25%, lowering input and transportation costs and increasing product margins. The production tool also imprints invisible controlled-tear lines; tears have dull edges to make the opening of packaging safer and more consumer friendly while still preventing theft. Applications for the Smittie technology include packaging, health/medical products, consumer products, industrial products, and construction sheeting.
