Single Photon Counting Modules

Laser Components' (Hudson, NH) COUNT® single photon counting modules (SPCM) achieve a quantum efficiency of over 70% in the red region and a significantly higher quantum efficiency in the blue spectral range. In addition, these modules are perfectly suited for measurements across the entire wavelength range from 400‑1000 nm. Laser Components has reduced the dead time of the COUNT® photon counters down to 42 ns — the previous dead time was 55 ns. This results in a maximum count rate of more than 23 MHz. In addition, the tolerance range of the supply voltage has increased. This allows the COUNT® module to react less sensitively to voltage peaks and small deviations in the supply voltage. Laser Diode Driver

Portable Power Systems (St. Louis, MO) has introduced the new PPS-90-125OEMDPC laser diode driver. The PPS series of OEM laser diode drivers will operate from 1-45 diodes or bars in either the Pulsed or CW mode. Added features include Over Voltage and Over Current protection, Remote and Coolant interlocks, Over Temperature interlocks for the driver and laser, as well as an Emergency Stop feature. The units are microprocessor controlled and can be interfaced with either USB or RS-232. 16 sets of parameters for current, pulse width and frequency can be stored and recalled with all parameters displayed every 4 seconds. The units come with a 3 year warranty.

The Optoelectronics Company (Hertfordshire, UK) has launched a range of direct emission 520nm green laser diode modules which offer OEMs and system integrators a cost and energy-efficient alternative to low-tech DPSS green laser modules. The green laser diode modules produce a high-quality elliptical beam at 520nm and offer high output stability with optical output powers of up to 35 mW. With an operating voltage of 9V DC and a broad ambient operating temperature range from -10°C to +50°C, they are energy-efficient, requiring typically 140mA operating current at 35mW and offer a long lifetime at continuous operation.
