Icon Labs (West Des Moines, IA) recently announced its Floodgate IoT Security Toolkit. The solution enables IoT edge devices to be easily and securely integrated with IoT cloud platforms, including Verizon’s ThingSpace IoT Cloud Platform, and provides security management for remote IoT devices from a single user interface. The new Icon Labs Floodgate IoT Security Toolkit provides connectivity to the cloud platform over a secure communication link for both normal device operation and for security management. The solution includes critical security countermeasures to protect the device from attack, intrusion detection to identify when the device is being attacked, and security management to respond to attacks.

This ultra-compact 75mm x 75mm form factor is a full-featured, standalone SBC for rugged, embedded applications. It boasts a wide thermal junction temperature (Tj) range (-40°C to +85°C), wide input voltage (20-30 VDC), DisplayPort, USB2.0, USB3.0 and two GLAN ports with support for DirectX 11, Open GL 4.0, and full HD video playback. MP3 Audio DSP Microcontroller

VLSI Solution (Tampere, Finland) has introduced the VS1010 MP3 Audio DSP Microcontroller, a highly integrated all-in-one MP3 player system-on-a-chip. VS1010's I/O system includes support for Hi-speed USB (both host and device operations are supported), SD/SDHC cards, 2xSPI, MEMS microphones, S/PDIF, I2S, 2xUART, RTC clock, SAR inputs, a PWM output, GPIOs. It also contains a 24-bit stereo DAC and an integrated earphone amplifier with a dynamic range of 100 dB(A). VS1010 runs VLSI Solution's VSOS operating system. 32-Bit MCUs

Mouser Electronics, Inc. (Mansfield, TX) is now stocking the MSP432 mixed-signal microcontrollers from Texas Instruments (TI). TI’s MSP432 microcontrollers are based on a powerful, 32-bit ARM® Cortex®‑M4F core with a floating point unit and memory protection management. The microcontroller includes two 16-bit timers, four 32-bit timers, and a 14-bit analog to digital converter (ADC) that converts at 1MSPS. The microcontroller also boasts four high-drive input and output (I/O) pins that can support up to 20mA. The microcontrollers support capacitive touch capability, as well as digital glitch filtering on some I/O pins.

BGA Socket

Ironwood Electronics (Eagan, MN) recently introduced a new BGA socket design using high performance elastomer capable of 75GHz, very low inductance and wide temperature applications. The GT-BGA-2052 socket is designed for 17x17 mm package size and operates at bandwidths up to 75GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. The socket is designed to dissipate watts using compression screw and can be customized up to 100 watts with modified fin design on top of the screw and adding axial flow fan.
