LED Driver Modules

ROHM Electronics (San Diego, CA) introduces AC/DC-isolated LED driver modules that utilize constant-current circuits optimized for driving LEDs. The BP58xx series integrates all required LED-driving control circuits, switching elements, isolation transformers, and constant-current circuits into a single SIP package. The LED driver modules increase power-conversion efficiency in a broad range of illumination/lighting applications, including theater, landscape, residential, commercial, and emergency lighting.

Chip-On-Board Illuminance Sensor

Hamamatsu Corporation (Bridgewater, NJ) has introduced a chip-on-board-type illuminance sensor called the S10604. The RoHS-compliant sensor is ideal as an energy-saving sensor for large-screen TV brightness control, as a backlight dimmer in liquid-crystal displays on cell phones, and in other applications where the level of the ambient light is measured. The S10604, which has a package size of 2.0mm × 1.25mm × 0.8mm, is the same size as typical chip resistors.

Condensation Cured Silicone

A two part, condensation cured liquid silicone system called Master Sil 150 has been developed by Master Bond, Inc (Hackensack, NJ). It can be used for the potting and encapsulation of voltage regulators, high voltage transformers, as well as optical and electronic assemblies. Master Sil 150 has good thermal stability, excellent flexibility, a Shore A hardness of 40, and its elongation at break is 230%. Low viscosity ensures complete fill-in around complicated parts to provide excellent electrical insulation and resistance to shock. The coefficient of thermal expansion is 11x10-4 cm/cm°C and its linear shrinkage is less than 0.4%.

VIUscan™

Creaform, Levis, QE, Canada, offers the VIUscan™, the latest addition to the Handyscan 3D line of handheld scanners, which are used for the design, manufacturing, and inspection of any type of parts or assembly. VIUscan is a selfpositioning, high-resolution, portable 3D color scanner that creates an exact representation of an object, and generates files that can be exported to most CAD platforms. The scanner features simultaneous texture and geometry acquisition, real-time rendering, true color acquisition via a built-in lighting system, adjustable uniform texture resolution, and automatic texture mapping. The texture and geometry of an object are automatically acquired in the same reference system and aligned together, eliminating an additional alignment step normally required after scanning. Resolution parameters enable users to increase or decrease the texture and geometry resolution, independent of one another. It requires no external reference system and no external tracking or positioning devices. A topmounted button lets users switch between color-textured geometry scanning or geometry scanning only.
