High Performance, 1.5 µm, CW and Pulsed Fiber Lasers

There has been increasing interest recently in high power pulsed and CW fiber lasers sources in the 1.5 micron region. Operating at this wavelength has an advantage in eye safety when compared with 1 µm laser sources and also coincides with a window of atmospheric transparency.

Fiber Optic Cleaning Tools

MicroCare Corporation (New Britain, CT) has introduced the newest additions to its STICKLERS® family of fiber optic cleaning tools. Sticklers® CleanClicker™ push-to-clean tools contain more than 750 cleaning “clicks” and can clean both male jumpers and female ports. CleanClicker™ tools are available in three sizes: for the 2.5mm configurations, the 1.2mm configurations, and the fast-growing MTP/MPO design often used in data centers, central offices and cable TV head ends. Pressure applied to the end-face is reduced, which minimizes the chance of scratching the end-face or damaging the connector. For Free Info Visit http://info.hotims.com/55591-209

Two-Axis Gear-Drive Gimbal

AMG-GR gear-driven motorized gimbals from Aerotech (Pittsburgh, PA) provide economical, high-accuracy elevation- over-azimuth positioning. The AMG-GR standard circular cells range from 100 mm to 300 mm in diameter. Cell mounting options include a centered (balanced) cell or a front-surface reflection option where the front of the optic is located on the axes of rotation. Special configurations can accommodate non-circular optics, cameras, sensors, and round optics larger than 300 mm in diameter. The modular design permits each gimbal mirror cell to be easily modified or replaced with different shaped cells to accommodate sensors or other asymmetrically-shaped payloads.

3D Machine Vision Using Laser Triangulation

Applications for 3D machine vision are rapidly expanding in a variety of industries for several reasons. The first is that vision systems can lower production costs by increasing yields and/or reducing scrap product and wasted raw material. One example of this would be extruded products from various materials (rubber, plastic, metal), where it’s vital to know as soon as the process goes out of specification.
