Dot-in-Well Quantum-Dot Infrared Photodetectors
Dot-in-Well Quantum-Dot Infrared Photodetectors
Date added: 02/01/2008
We are developing DWELL-QDIPs based on InGaAs QDs embedded in the lattice-matched GaAs/AlGaAs materials system, in which we have extensive experience in growth and fabrication of FPAs. Using this lattice-matched materials system we should be able to stack 50-100 InGaAs QDs in a GaAs/AlGaAs DWELL device structure. Therefore, we expect at last an order of magnitude higher quantum efficiency and responsivity from InGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs DWELL-QDIPs compared to lattice mismatched InGaAs/InGaAs/GaAs DWELL-QDIPs.

Microstrip Yagi Antenna With Dual Aperture-Coupled Feed
Microstrip Yagi Antenna With Dual Aperture-Coupled Feed hot!
Date added: 01/02/2008
A microstrip Yagi employing a dual offset aperture-coupled feed to obtain circular polarization was designed to operate at X-band (8.4 GHz). The X-band microstrip Yagi array designed in this work consists of three Yagi array elements, with each element having one reflector patch, one driven patch, and two director patches.

Patterned Ferroelectric Films for Tunable Microwave Devices
Patterned Ferroelectric Films for Tunable Microwave Devices
Date added: 01/02/2008
The inclusion of voltage-tunable barium strontium titanate (BSTO) thin films into planar band pass filters offers tremendous potential to increase their versatility. The ability to tune the passband so as to correct for minor deviations in manufacturing tolerances, or to completely reconfigure the operating frequencies of a microwave communication system, are highly sought-after goals. This study explores the use of patterned ferroelectric layers to minimize dielectric losses without degrading tunability.

Inertial Orientation Trackers With Drift Compensation
Inertial Orientation Trackers With Drift Compensation hot!
Date added: 01/02/2008
A self-contained sensor apparatus generates a signal that corresponds to at least two of the three orientational aspects of yaw, pitch and roll of a human-scale body, relative to an external reference frame. The sensor may be mounted to the body.

Metrology Camera System Using Two- Color Interferometry
Metrology Camera System Using Two- Color Interferometry
Date added: 12/03/2007
The invention measures both bearing and range to multiple targets with no moving parts. The system is based on the combination of the Modulation Sideband Technology for Absolute Ranging (MSTAR) sensor and the Array Heterodyne Interferometer. It permits measurement of the three-dimensional position of multiple targets with sub-millimeter accuracy.
