A thermoelectric cooler is disabled when the humidity exceeds a preset level.
For the first time, it would be possible to perform heterodyne imaging at frequencies >100 GHz.
Uses could include mineralogical exploration, detection of cracks, and reading magnetic cards.
Other improvements would include increased fill factor and reduced readout noise.
