The bidirectional pressure regulator is a flow control device that controls the flow and pressure of fluids
that are moving through it. The unique feature of this control is that it is capable of controlling the
pressure on either side of the control to a given setpoint at any given moment in time. The regulator works with gases and liquids.
The novel gold-on-polymer sensors have been successfully operated and regenerated to detect organic solvents and Hg at ppm/ppb levels required by NASA.
NASA's Vision for Space Exploration as well as the future of commercial and non-commercial aerospace
rests in the use of composite materials. Conventional methods for evaluating aircraft/spacecraft aging,
damage, and durability no longer will apply. This document discusses a novel application of an existing optical analysis method for evaluating composite materials and coatings currently in use or proposed for use in space and aerospace.
During 1999-2000 a new advanced cloud and aerosol lidar system, the Cloud Physics Lidar (CPL), was built for use on the high altitude NASA ER-2 aircraft. The CPL provides measurements at three wavelengths to permit a comprehensive study of cloud and aerosol properties. The CPL is designed around a high repetition rate, low pulse energy laser transmitter.
Here we propose and demonstrate new coupling technique which allows to couple free Gaussian beam to Bessel beam waveguide with very high efficiency. The problem of optical coupling to very small Bessel beam tapers is solved, and solution was experimentally demonstrated.
