A scheme was developed that enables thermal barrier coatings to become self-indicating for hidden delamination. The strategy relies on incorporating a luminescent sublayer at the base of the thermal barrier coating.
The present invention is a quantitative, global, non-intrusive surface-temperature measurement technique and device using ratio intensity thermography at two or more wavelengths in the near infrared.
Advantegeous features include ruggedness, rapid pesponse, and high dynamic range.
This is an alternative to excavation and to techniques dependent on hydraulic conductivity.
