Property Value
Name Photochemically Synthesized Polyimides
Description A novel monomer system for preparing polyimides has been developed. Self-polymerization of an A-B type monomer, based on Diels-Alder trapping of a photochemically generated o-quinodimethane intermediate, results in polymer materials. The photo-reactive monomers contain both o-methylbenzophenones and dienophiles, allowing formulations of one monomer to successfully prepare polymers. Polymerization may be accomplished in dilute and concentrated solutions as well as in neat form.
