ImageImageAdobe Systems, San Jose, CA, has released Adobe® Acrobat® 3D that enables engineers to publish and share 3D design information from major CAD applications with virtually any computer user, allowing collaboration within design and manufacturing teams. Users can convert 3D designs from a number of proprietary CAD formats into cross-platform, secure Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. When enabled by Acrobat 3D, suppliers, partners, clients, and other team members can use the free Adobe Reader® 7.0 software to review and add comments directly onto interactive 3D objects embedded within PDF files. The original CAD application is not required. Acrobat 3D lets users convert virtually any document, such as e-mail or spreadsheets, into PDF files. Users can also insert 3D CAD designs into Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files and, using Acrobat 3D, convert them to PDF. The software also enables users to publish technical documents as PDF files with interactive 3D illustrations.
