| Power Systems Find Use in Multiple Future Space Vehicles |

Each system will be created using a modular and cost-efficient component approach with DC-DC power converters and EMI filters serving as the base for the system. All resulting power systems will meet NASA requirements for design, parts selection, element evaluation, screening, radiation hardness, and qualification. At Johnson Space Center’s Space Station operations in Houston, TX, the power systems will be used on power converters for the IBM A31 notebook computer used by astronauts. At the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, the power system will be used for the James Webb Space Telescope, which is designed to study the earliest galaxies and some of the first stars formed after the Big Bang. Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH, will use the power system for the new Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) — the eventual replacement for the Space Shuttle — and the lunar orbiter. Applications for the power systems at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, include a spaceborne GPS receiver for attitude and orbit determination.
