With this patented technology, aqueous solutions of viscoelastic gels can be formulated at concentrations of surfactants as low as 1 to 5%. These gels, exhibiting thickening and gelling behavior similar to high-molecular-weight polymers, can be used in industrial markets such as civil engineering excavation processes, industrial cleaning, polishing, and manufacturing low-density materials, paints, and coatings. Some examples of the effects would be to stabilize the suspension of mineral particles or pigments in aqueous fluids; to prepare viscoelastic gels for pressure transmission without drag losses; to formulate viscoelastic, long-lasting foams; and to prevent sagging. The gel can be destroyed by dilution with water or other additives.
