Dash 32HF

The Astro-Med Test & Measurement Product Group, West Warwick, RI, has introduced the Dash 32HF multi-channel, high-frequency data acquisition recorder. Engineered to capture high-frequency data and transient signals, the unit records up to 32 channels to an internal hard drive at sample rates up to 500 kHz, and a bandwidth of 100 KHz per channel. The system contains 32 differential inputs that accept up to ±50 VDC. Filtering capabilities include low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch filtering. It is equipped with a 15" diagonal monitor for touchscreen control and real-time data viewing and analysis. It also includes a dedicated, 250 GByte internal hard drive for capturing data, and a DVD burner for archiving data. Other features include 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet for data upload, and a USB 2.0 port for archiving to external devices. It operates on 120 or 240 VAC, and includes a capacitive backup for proper shutdown without data corruption if power is lost.

IP Core Software for FPGA Chips

SERCOS International (Santa Rosa Beach, FL) has introduced Easy-I/O, a freely downloadable IP core software for low-cost FPGA chips that allows SERCOS III to be integrated into basic I/O slave devices with minimal development and integration effort. To minimize the costs for a slave interface, the functionality of a SERCOS III slave was reduced to a minimum. Thus, the Easy-I/O IP core supports only the SERCOS III realtime and service channels.

High-Speed Digitizer

Agilent Technologies Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) has introduced the Acqiris DP1400 high-speed digitizer. Designed in a standard short PCI card format, the compact DP1400 combines data converter ASIC technology with component integration for a reduced power consumption of less than 15 W. It can be used in all standard PCI bus slots and is ideal for test applications including semiconductor component testing, hard disk drive production testing, and industrial non-destructive testing. With the optional SAR mode, the onboard memory is separated into multiple buffers. As data is acquired into one buffer, another can be read out through the 32-bit/66 MHz PCI at up to 250 MB/s. In applications where the total data rate of the acquisition is below the PCI data bandwidth, the Acqiris DP1400 with SAR mode can acquire continuously, missing zero events.
