Laser Diode

Photonic Products (Hertfordshire, UK) has launched the Opnext HL6750MG 685nm Al-GaInP laser diode with a multi-quantum well structure. It has an optical output power of 50 mW CW, a package size of 5.6 mm, and a built-in photodiode for monitoring laser output which enables control of the auto power circuit. Supplied in a 5.6mm package, the Opnext HL6750MG is a single longitudinal mode laser diode with an optical power of 50 mW CW at a visible wavelength of 685 nm. It features an operating current of 75 mA, an operating voltage of 2.3 V, and a threshold current of 30 mA. The monitoring output current is 0.15 mA, while the operating temperature range is -10°C to 70°C. The Opnext HL6750MG is suitable for use in medical and biomedical applications such as X-ray scanners, industrial and medical sensor light sources, and as a light source for optical equipment such as distance meters, barcode scanners, and high-resolution CTP.

Laser Alignment Module

BFi OPTiLAS (Evry, France) has developed the 300-0100-00 series 645nm laser alignment module offering a range of interchangeable, pre-aligned, precision optics: 88 degrees cross, 58 degrees line, 58 degrees cross/spot. The focus is user adjustable, as is the laser intensity (from 0.1 mW to 4.5 mW), allowing brightness to be optimized for the target material. The laser diode module incorporates anti-surge, anti-static, and reverse polarity protected electronics, an anti-reflection coated scratch resistant glass window, and a 2.11 mm jack socket to ease installation and replacement. The 300-0100-00 series comes in a 14mm housing, and each module is supplied with an adjustable mounting bracket, wall plug power supply, and power adjustment tool. Optional accessories include a 4-outlet junction box, 2m and 5m power extension leads, and all interchangeable optics heads.

UV-Conversion Screens

Laser Components (Hudson, NH) offers the LDT-300B and LDT-300BG UV-conversion screens that can make UV laser radiation from 190 nm — 390 nm visible. The emission is based on “photon up conversion” effects. The screens do not require activation or moving inside the beam since there is no fading effect. The LDT-300B version measures 100 mm × 23 mm, while the LDT-300BG version measures 100 mm × 25 mm. The screens offer a minimum intensity of 10 J/cm2 (pulsed). The difference between the B and BG version is the mounting of the active material. The active surface of the B version extends to the edges of the conversion screen for use in alignment tasks, while the active material of the BG version is covered with a frame to protect the screen against mechanical shocks. The GC750 connects directly to the Gigabit Ethernet port on the host computer and does not require a frame grabber.
