(Boulder, CO) offers ultra-wideband supercontinuum sources featuring optical spectrum from 1200 to 2000 nm (over 800 nm), optical power density of more than -17 dBm/nm, spectral uniformity of less than 13 dB, and long-term spectral stability of less than 0.15 dB. The supercontinuum sources incorporate the company’s all-fiber-integrated 40-MHz rep-rate sub-100-femtosecond fiber laser and supercontinuum generation technology. The supercontinuum sources are suitable for optical component testing, optical sensing, spectroscopic analysis, and optical coherence tomography (OCT). They feature pushbutton operation with no tuning required.

Deposition Sciences (Santa Rosa, CA) has released its Heat- Buster® cold mirror product line that features coating technology to withstand light levels above 200W per square centimeter and temperatures above 400°C. These cold mirrors feature reflectivity values of 98% across the visible spectrum and reflectivity in the infrared, with transmission of ≤20 percent in the 80-nm to 2500-nm waveband. The mirrors can be designed to operate over a variety of angles, and can be applied to infrared transparent substrates such as glass, fused silica, and sapphire, and opaque materials such as stainless steel and electroformed nickel.

Angle Encoders

Heidenhain (Schaumburg, IL) expanded its ERA 4000 series of angle encoders with the ERA 4×80, 4×81, and 4×82 versions. The ERA 4x80 is mounted using a centering collar method, with a low profile encoder system. With seven standardized diameters, system accuracies are offered with the 20 μm grating period version from ±6.1 arc seconds with the smallest diameter to ±2.8 arc seconds on the largest.

Linear-Arc Motor

Applimotion (Loomis, CA) offers the LARC Series of linear-arc motors, a combination of a disk drive voice coil motor and brushless linear motor. The units can be driven by three-phase brushless motor controllers from 24 to 300 volts with speeds ranging from 0.1 to 1000 rpm. Features include axial low profile, with options as low as 10 mm axial thickness up to 800 mm diameter. Torque output is approximately 15 lb-in per radial inch of arc. With a 360° magnet track, they can run continuously. Hall Devices are a standard option.
