PCI Express® Digital I/O Module

ADLINK Technology, Inc. (San Jose, CA) has announced the release of its new high-speed digital I/O module, the PCIe-7360, which supports up to 100 MHz data rate and 400 MB/s throughput, with parallel and bi-directional 32- channel high-speed I/O lines and 8-channel application function I/Os. Ideally suited to large scale and high resolution digital pattern data acquisition and generation applications, the PCIe-7360 delivers support for complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor capture for image performance verification, ADC/DAC testing, digital image transfer to large-scale printer/plotter applications, and digital video recording/playback. ADLINK’s PCIe-7360 utilizes a PCI Express x4 interface, with up to 400 MB/s throughput and data rate up to 100 MHz guaranteed, with programmable parallel data width (8/16/24/32-bit).

Littrow Dispersion Prisms

Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O) (Santa Ana, CA) has announced a line of Littrow dispersion prisms for laser cavities and other optical systems, such as spectrographs. PG&O offers a wide range of coated and uncoated Littrow prisms featuring 30- 60- and 90-degree angles. Uncoated prisms are ideal for image (or light) dispersion because they can disperse white light into its spectral components. Coated Littrow prisms feature an anti-reflective coating on the surface opposite the 60-degree angle to provide a constant deviation prism. For a given wavelength, the refracted ray entering the prism travels normally to the reflectively-coated exit face, then back along its original path. Littrow prisms from PG&O feature angular tolerance >1 arc second, surface quality of 10/5, surface accuracy λ/20, and dimensional tolerances ± .001 in.

Autofocus Machine Vision Camera

IDS Imaging Development Systems (Woburn, MA) announced that it is shipping its new uEye™ XS, the world's smallest machine vision camera with autofocus. Measuring a compact 23 x 26.5 x 21.5 mm (.9" x 1.04" x .84"), the uEye™ XS is simple to integrate into virtually any imaging system. Featuring the 5 megapixel Aptina™ CMOS sensor with a pixel size of 1.4 µm, the uEye™ XS camera delivers detailed, true color images in a choice of seven fixed image formats ranging from 5 MP (2592 x 1944) to basic VGA (640 x 480). Frame rate is freely adjustable for long or short exposures, and at full 5MB resolution the XS will capture 15 fps. Binning can be used to achieve frame rates as high as 30 fps. It connects via standard USB 2.0 and a mini-B socket, with power supply provided by the bus cable.

Ultraviolet Radiation Spectrometer

McPherson’s (Chelmsford MA) vacuum ultraviolet spectrometer, Model 234/302, is now complete with sensitive, cooled, scientific grade CCD detectors. The compact 200mm focal length spectrometer has adjustable slits, and operates at f/4.5, providing fast, sensitive data collection from ultraviolet radiation and emission spectra in the 100 to 190 nanometer wavelength range simultaneously, in near real time, with sub-nanometer spectral resolution. Tune the grating to longer or shorter wavelengths to collect different wavelength swaths. Various models of cooled, back illuminated and windowless sensors fit directly to the focal plane for direct detection of vacuum ultraviolet spectra. Furnished with spectral calibration certificate the McPherson spectrometer is available with standard light sources, reflective condenser optics, and vacuum differential sections.

Product of the Month: the Model 2450 SourceMeter® SMU Instrument

Keithley Instruments, Cleveland, OH, has introduced the Model 2450 SourceMeter® SMU instrument, the first benchtop source measure unit (SMU) instrument with a capacitive touchscreen graphical user interface. The instrument is based on the company’s Touch, Test, Invent™ design philosophy that lets users interact with the instruments via the touchscreen and icon-based control. The instrument combines the functionality of a power supply, a true current source, 6-1/2-digit multimeter, electronic load, and trigger controller. It features a 5" touchscreen, low current and voltage ranges to eliminate the need for separate instruments, built-in help via the touchscreen, and KickStart start-up software. Data can be stored to disk and exported to another software environment. The unit integrates the capabilities of I-V systems, curve tracers, and semiconductor analyzers in one instrument.

CRAIC Technologies (San Dimas, CA) has introduced an automated version of the 20/30 Perfect Vision™ UV-visible- NIR microspectrophotometer. This system is designed to be fully programmable with touchscreen controls so that it can automatically analyze microscopic samples with UV-visible-NIR spectroscopy and microscopy. Imaging and spectroscopic analysis of samples can be done by absorbance, reflectance and fluorescence from the deep UV to far into the near infrared.
