3U VPX Ethernet Switches and Routers

Extreme Engineering Solutions, Inc. (X-ES) (Middleton, WI) has introduced the XChange3013 and XChange3018 3U VPX switches and routers. The XChange3018 is the first VPX Ethernet switch to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet using the 10GBASE-T protocol, eliminating the need for 10 Gigabit optical transceivers. The XChange3013 and XChange3018 both deliver full wire speed across all of their ports and jumbo packets up to 13 KB. They also support IPv6, Quality of Service (QoS), Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), and a comprehensive set of IETF RFCs and IEEE protocols. The XChange3013 and XChange3018 include an XMC site that is compatible with the XPedite5205, which implements Cisco IOS IP Routing capabilities and provides a complete Embedded Services Router (ESR) solution.

Recording System Simulator

Pentek, Inc. (Upper Saddle River, NJ) has announced the SystemFlow Simulator for its Talon(R) analog and digital recording systems. The SystemFlow Simulator includes a virtual recorder server application that simulates disk and I/O transactions for a complete and realistic recording environment. Using either the standard SystemFlow graphical user interface (GUI) or the SystemFlow application programming interface (API), the virtual server provides live, interactive operation for training or development. The common user interface (UI) and API provides a simple transition from one Talon recorder to another. The SystemFlow Simulator demonstrates actual Configuration, Record, Playback and Status screens of the standard GUI, each with intuitive controls and indicators. The SystemFlow Signal Viewer includes a virtual oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer for signal monitoring in both time and frequency domains.

Photo-Etched Lead Frames

Photofabrication Engineering (PEI) (Milford, MA) has expanded its manufacturing capabilities for custom-designed, photochemically-etched surface-mount and insert-mount lead frames for integrated circuit manufacturing. These lead frames are used in a variety of applications including semiconductors, glass-to-metal seals, and relays, as well as medical applicationss. Using base materials such as kovar, nickel-iron alloys, copper alloys, and pure nickel, PEI can plate lead frames in their entirety or selectively. Lead-free plating materials include silver, nickel, gold, or tin. PEI’s lead frames range in thickness from 0.5 mil [0.0127 mm] to 40 mil [1.575 mm], with features as small as 4 mil [0.10 mm] on 0.010 in. [0.254 mm] centers, creating lead frames that are strong enough to be handled yet flexible enough to allow bending when necessary.

Product of the Month: The Lantronix® xSenso™ Controller

Lantronix, Irvine, CA, has introduced the Lantronix® xSenso™ Controller with analog and relay outputs that control industrial processes and equipment based on the sensor readings and predefined thresholds. The controller is a compact, DIN-rail or wall-mount solution that enables analog sensors (voltage or current) to transparently send real-time data to any node on the Internet or to a cloud-based application. It can take action when a condition is met (e.g., temperature threshold, pressure level, etc.), triggering its internal relays or outputting voltage or current to control an event in real time. In an existing control system, the controller can also be placed in between the sensor and the controller to mirror the analog data from its input to its output, while simultaneously presenting the data through a Web browser to computers or mobile devices. It is compatible with data acquisition systems such as LabVIEW™ and DASYLab™, and can be installed in dispersed or remote locations.

10 to 1000eV Spectrometer

The new McPherson (Chelmsford, MA) Model 248/310 spectrometer can easily make spectral measurements around 13 nanometers and throughout the extreme vacuum ultraviolet and soft x-ray wavelength region. It is ideal for work from 10eV to more than 1000eV. The spectrometer features one meter focal length optics built into a compact Rowland circle instrument. Grazing incidence angles used in the instrument deliver high reflective efficiency. For direct detection of extreme vacuum ultraviolet and soft x-ray wavelengths, windowless back illuminated CCD’s are used. Sensitivity of CCD’s at short wavelengths can surpass that in the visible spectral region. The CCD’s aggressive thermoelectric cooling also reduces readout noise. When gated detection is required, open microchannel plate intensifiers are available.
