Optimax (Ontario, NY) is a manufacturing company that provides rapid prototyping of precision optical components in sizes up to 300mm. Optimax specializes in asphere, cylinder, sphere, and plano/flat optics. All parts are manufactured to customer-supplied specifications. Final inspection data is included with the optics. Optimax is leveraging recent developments in machine tools and metrology which have expanded the dynamic range of aspheres that can be made to fractional wave tolerances.

Radiation-Hard Lens

The Model 305 Fixed Focus Non-Browning Lens from Resolve Optics Ltd. (Chesham, Buckinghamshire, UK) has been designed for large image format cameras and sensors used in environments subject to radiation. Measuring 30mm in diameter, the compact f2 lens delivers high image resolution and minimum geometric distortion from 400 - 750nm. Manufactured from cerium doped glass or synthetic silica, the Model 305 lens is able to withstand radiation exposure of up to 53 kGy (108 rads) and temperatures up to 55 degrees C without discoloration. Designed to give a 40° field of view in both the vertical and horizontal planes and 25 Cycles/mm the Model 305 lens is able to provide uncompromised optical performance for images up to 18mm in diameter.

Industrial Femtosecond Lasers

The D2.fs from RPMC (O’Fallon, MO) is an industrial femtosecond laser available at 4W and 10W with pulse widths as short as 400fs at rep rates up to 200 kHz. The D2.fs produces a maximum energy of 200uJ at 50 kHz and 100uJ at 100 kHz with an emission wavelength of 1030nm. The D2.fs incorporates the use of a fiber seed oscillator and produces ultra-short pulses with high energy and consistent high beam quality. The D2.fs is suitable for micromachining, spectroscopy and other scientific applications where peak energy and precision are needed. 10mm Waveplates

Tower Optical Corp. (Boynton Beach, FL) has announced the availability of a new series of Zero Order and Multiple Order, Crystal Quartz, waveplates based upon a waveplate diameter of 10mm. The waveplates are offered unmounted with a diameter of 10mm or mounted in a 12.7mm or 25.4mm anodized aluminum mounting ring, both with a clear aperture of 8mm. Tower’s 10mm Zero Order waveplates provide users with crystal quartz waveplates that have a clear aperture of 8mm. These waveplates have an air space between two crystal quartz plates that form the zero order capability. These 10mm waveplates are made from laser quality crystal quartz and each plate is anti-reflection, AR, coated on both sides. Standard retardations are 1⁄2 and 1⁄4 wave. There are 49 standard wavelengths, ranging from 248nm to 2020nm.
