Extech Instruments (Waltham, MA) has introduced METERLiNK ™, an exclusive new technology that wirelessly connects FLIR infrared cameras to Extech meters via Bluetooth™ to accelerate and simplify inspections. During infrared inspections of electrical components, users can transmit key electrical readings such as current or voltage from an Extech EX845 clamp meter directly to a FLIR infrared camera. METERLiNK™ instantly imprints the electrical readings onto a related infrared image not only adding time-savings, but also ensuring accurate, coordinated documentation for PdM inspection reports.

Laser Calibration System

Renishaw (Hoffman Estates, IL) has introduced the "lean design" XL-80 laser calibration system. The new design allows a 4X faster slew rate, 10X higher dynamic data capture rate, and total system accuracy in a smaller, lighter and more portable package. The XL-80 features linear measurement speed to 4m/s, while providing a resolution of 1nm. A new signal gain switch gives the option of 80m linear range or increased signal strength at shorter ranges. System accuracy of ±0.5 ppm is maintained over the full operating range of 0-40°C (32°-104°F). A new XC-80 Intelligent Sensor System maintains that accuracy against variations in temperature, pressure and humidity by updating the environment factor every seven seconds via a USB link. The XL-80 takes readings at 50 kHZ. The 10X increase in bandwidth enables capture of detailed data about small high-frequency movements.

Lead Selenide and Lead Sulfide IR Detectors

Cal Sensors (Santa Rosa, CA) has announced the launch of IDA (Integrated Detector Assembly) lead selenide and lead sulfide high-sensitivity infrared detectors with integrated electronics enclosed within a compact, hermetically sealed TO-8 package. Housing the electronic drivers within the detector package enhances noise performance since the detector is as close as possible to the first stage of amplification. This enables greater low signal detection capability for sensing trace elements by improving dynamic range. Covering the 1.0 to 5.5μm infrared region, IDA detectors provide industry leading sensitivity of 1.5E10 Jones. IDA lead selenide (2.8 × 1010 cm Hz1⁄2 w-1 peak D*) and lead sulfide (1.5 × 1011 cm Hz1⁄2 w-1 peak D*) detectors are available in both 1mm and 2mm square sizes.

SWIR InGaAs Camera

Sensors Unlimited (Princeton, NJ), part of Goodrich Corporation, has announced the new SU1024LDH2, a high speed, digital line scan SWIR-indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) camera. The second generation 1024-pixel, high speed camera features an increased line rate to over 91,900 lines per second, making it suitable for spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) imaging applications. In the 1.05 microns wavelength band, the new imager can capture detailed 3D SD-OCT volumes of the retina, choroidal vasculature and nerve head, offering important detail beyond the depth capability of current 0.84 micron systems. Small (3 inches W × 3 inches H × 2.4 inches L) and cost-effective, the LDH2 SWIR camera can be easily mounted to spectrometers.

Baumer (Southington, CT) has introduced the OADM 250, an optical laser distance sensor specifically designed to accurately detect target objects, regardless of surface properties or color, at distances from 0.2 meters to 4 meters away. Based on time of flight technology, the compact OADM 250 offers response times of less than 10ms, resolutions of 1.2mm, and repeat accuracy of ± 5mm, which delivers precise data even on moving targets. Sized at just 25 × 66 × 51 mm, the sensor fits easily into almost any application.
