14-Bit Analog-to-Digital Converter

The 14-bit ADS4149 from Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX) is a high-speed analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that delivers low power consumption and performance across wide signal bandwidths from DC up to 550 MHz. It features a maximum sample rate of 250 mega-samples per second (MSPS) and consumes as little as 275mW per channel at that rate, while offering 72.5-dB SNR at 100-MHz input frequency. Dynamic power scaling reduces power consumption to 215mW at 160 MSPS.

Pockels Cell Driver

Analog Modules (Longwood, FL ) has announced the release of its Pockels Cell Driver, Model 823B. The Model 823B Pockels Cell/Shutter Driver is designed for continuous pulsed applications. The compact construction utilizes solid-state MOSFET technology, giving excellent trigger noise immunity and a smooth output waveform. This technique eliminates common problems associated with krytron, avalanche, and transformer drivers. Amplitude is continuously variable up to 3.2kV by adjusting the internal high voltage power supply with a risetime of 30ns typical at full output. The output is push-pull, which yields high reliability by halving the voltage swing per side and which effectively cancels the EMI of the output pulse. Applications of the Model 823B include driving E-O switches for Q-switching solid-state lasers, high voltage pulser, and E-O Shutter.

Fiber Optic Connector Cleaner

US Conec (Hickory, NC) has announced immediate availability of the IBC™ Brand Cleaner M250 for 2.5mm ferrule fiber optic connectors featuring the largest cleaning region commercially available. The M250 tool cleans SC, ST, FC and E2000 connectors and most hardened 2.5mm connectors used in harsh environment applications including the MIL DTL 83526. The tool uses a 1.8mm synthetic, microfiber woven cloth that will not scratch the fiber endface surface while removing dust particulates and liquid residues. The spring loaded tip of the M250 ensures the optimal compression range providing a flawless contact to the center of UPC and APC polished ferrules. An integrated magnet on the housing of the M250 gives the operator a hands free option by sticking the M250 tool to a rack or panel door during inspection or testing.
