Optical Transmittance Spectrometer

For accurate, repeatable, real-time transmittance measurement of optical lenses and other optical components, Ocean Optics (Dunedin, FL) has introduced the Optical Transmittance Spectrometer (OTS). The compact system measures tint color, photopic transmittance, and UV cutoff of ophthalmic lenses, optical coatings, windows and filters. The OTS is built on a high-resolution miniature linear CCD-array spectrometer configured for the 380-780 nm wavelength range. The system accepts samples from 10-76 mm diameter and 15 mm thickness for use in lab applications where transmittance accuracy to ±1.0% and precision to ±0.1% are critical.

The silicon detector-preamp features 100 Kohm gain and wavelength response at 450 nm, typically 28 V/mW. Responsivity ranges from 400 nm to 1100 nm, with a peak spectral response of 940 nm. It features a large active area, high sensitivity, and extremely low noise. The ODA-5WB-100K is hermetically sealed in a TO-39 can for integration into new or existing systems. Storage and operating temperatures range from -25 degrees to +100 degrees C.

Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Analyzer

Picarro, Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) now offers an analyzer for monitoring trace levels of H2S (hydrogen sulfide) in ambient air, with a low detection limit of 1 ppbv. Based on the company’s WS-CRDS (Wavelength-Scanned Cavity Ring Down Spectroscopy) technology, the Picarro G1104 H2S analyzer provides a large dynamic range up to 300 ppmv, operates in real time (seconds), and has no requirement for frequent calibration. The G1104 H2S analyzer does not suffer from cross-talk due to changes in other ambient gas components, including trace sulfur compounds such as SO2 and COS.
