Motion Card

The Prodigy family of motion cards from Performance Motion Devices Inc. (Lincoln, MA) now gives machine designers the capability to download and run motion programs. This capability off-loads the PC host and increases the flexibility to distribute motion programs throughout the machine. Programs can be downloaded to the Prodigy card over UDP and TCP Ethernet protocols, in addition to serial and CANbus protocols.

Light Measurement System

Labsphere (North Sutton, NH) offers the HalfMoon Total Forward Spectral Flux Measurement System designed for manufacturers of LEDs, light fixtures, and displays. Available in standard 12, 20, and 40 inch diameters, the HalfMoon system provides an alternative to integrating sphere photometer and goniophotometer methods of measuring total forward spectral flux of forward emitting lamps, luminaires, and displays. The compact design creates a virtual integrating sphere by pairing an interior mirrored surface cap with half an orb coated with Labsphere’s highly reflective diffuse Spectraflect® material. The system saves space, minimizes absorption errors, and facilitates quick sample changes.

Optical Fibers and Cables

Fiberguide Industries (Stirling, NJ) offers single mode, multimode, graded index, tapered, and metal-coated optical fibers that are suitable for applications in the medical/biomedical and spectroscopy industries, as well as for use by industrial OEMs. The specialized optical cables utilize air gap technology to eliminate all energy absorbing materials at fiber end. The cantilevered fiber end can accept very high power levels that would normally destroy traditional fiber termination. A uniquely designed heat sink is thermally and mechanically connected to the assembly to effectively conduct generated heat away from fiber.
