Tunable Light Source

The TLS Series of software-controlled (Windows®) wavelength tunable light sources from Optometrics Corp. (Ayer, MA) can be used for detector sensitivity testing, color matching, and characterization, as well as reflectivity and absorption of different materials. Featuring a USB interface, abilities include wavelength selection from 360 to 1,000 nm and scanning between wavelengths. Bandpass output ranges from 6, 10, and 25 nm, and to illuminate specific wavelengths, a stepper motor is integrated. Manual versions also are offered.

UEILogger

United Electronics Industries, Canton, MA, has introduced the UEILogger series of data loggers and recorders. The logger "Cube" contains the logger engine and either three or six I/O slots. The logger is matched to the user's application by installing the appropriate I/O boards from more than 20 different available boards. A single 4 x 4.1 x 5.8" logger cube can provide up to 150 A/D channels or 288 digital I/O. The logger requires no programming, and the logging application is configured using a Windows-based application that sets up the logger and extracts data from the logger's memory. The software allows users to set input and output ranges, sample/update rates, and signal conditioning from pull-down menus. The program may be downloaded via the unit's standard Ethernet port or stored on the SD card. The logger supports sample rates up to 100 samples per second on each I/O channel or port. Data is logged onto standard SD cards; a 2-Gig SD card is included that holds more than 500 million 16-bit A/D readings.

Valve Motor

Eaton Corp. (Cleveland, OH) released the HP30 high-pressure disc valve motor for mobile off-highway applications requiring up to 30,000 in-lbs of intermittent torque. Options include a hydraulic parking brake offering up to 3,570 Nm of static holding torque. The device includes bearing pack, break, output shaft, and port mounts. Other features include a no-load pressure drop lower than 200 PSI at 25 GPM of flow. A two-piece balance ring provides mechanical and volumetric efficiencies. Continuous pressure is 170 liters per minute (45 GPM) at 310 bar (45,000 PSI); intermittent pressure is 265 LPM (70 GPM) at 345 bar (5,070 PSI). Maximum inlet pressure is 400 bar (6,000 PSI).

Ball Bearing Mounts

Asymmetric Fasteners, Inc. (Hackettstown, NJ) released the Torksleeve B mounting for ball bearings, compatible with roller, needle, linear, or plain bearing types. The unit provides quick assembly time, is compact, and lightweight. The unit also rebuilds in the field, and mounts to metal or plastic walls. The asymmetric thread design self-locks and is resistant to vibration. Tightening of the nuts causes the slotted sleeve to contract, gripping the bearing and clamping the unit to the frame.

3D Navigation Devices

3Dconnexion(r), a Logitech company, San Jose, CA, has released two new 3D navigation devices, SpaceNavigator and SpaceExplorer, that provide designers with intuitive 3D computer navigation control. SpaceNavigator is an entry-level device that lets users move naturally and fluidly in 3D environments without making repetitive mouse movements or having to type multiple keyboard commands. It features six optical sensors that communicate multiple threads of navigation data to 3D applications. It is used as a companion to a mouse, in the alternate hand, and lets users simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate 3D objects. A small, heavy steel base holds the device to the desktop and supports a controller cap that flexes in all directions. The SpaceExplorer is a mid-range device that features a key console and 15 pre-configured function keys within comfortable reach of the controller cap. It comes with 3DxSoftware, which offers support for Autodesk Design Reviewer and DWF Viewer, and Google Earth and SketchUp. For Free Info Visit http://info.hotims.com/10960-120
