Sponge Connectors

Fujipoly® America Corp., Carteret, NJ, offers Fujipoly® Self-Supporting Sponge Connectors for connecting LCD displays to circuit boards. Each connector is made from an electrically conductive Zebra® core that is supported by a low-compression-force silicone sponge on either one or two sides. The soft supports create a larger base width and eliminate the need to install a separate holder. The connector is available in a choice of widths to accommodate LCDs with a minimum glass lip overhang of 0.060"/1.5 mm.

Keylock Switches

APEM, Vista, CA, introduced LK Series keylock switches available in nickel-plated or black overmolded barrel shutter and key. The multi-position switches are available in momentary and maintained functions, and in single or double pole configurations. They feature two-, three-, and four-position locking configuration with positive detent and multiple key-pull locations. They are rated for 4A at 125 VAC or 28 VDC, with a mechanical lifespan of 6,000 cycles at full load.

Frequency Synthesizer

The THOR-16000-XA multi-output frequency synthesizer from EM Research, Reno, NV, features a single 800-MHz and dual 16-GHz RF outputs. The unit locks to an external 50-MHz reference and exhibits low phase noise at both RF output frequencies. At 100-KHz offset, phase noise is ≤118 dBc/Hz @ 800 MHz and ≤94 dBc/Hz @ 16 GHz. All three outputs have output power of +10 dBm, harmonics ≤30 dBc, spurs ≤70 dBc, and draw 570 mA current while supplied to +5V.

Spectroscopy System

Princeton Instruments (Trenton, NJ) launched the FERGIE ™ spectroscopy system, a fully integrated, aberration-free spectrograph with a built-in, low-noise, cooled detector in an 11 × 7 × 8" profile. Thanks to a proprietary Princeton Instruments optical design, FERGIE offers spectral resolution of 0.13 nm/pixel with a 1200 g/mm grating. Additionally, FERGIE’s diffraction-limited imaging (>60 lp/mm spatial resolution throughout the focal plane) yields exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratios and permits multichannel spectroscopy.

Infrared Cameras

Sierra-Olympic Technologies (Hood River, OR), supplier of infrared (IR) and thermal imaging components and cameras, has introduced the Oculus surveillance systems from Silent Sentinel, Ltd. (Rocklin, CA). The new, environmentally rugged outdoor video technologies feature sim ultaneous visible and thermal imaging outputs. The continuous zoom optical cameras, available in either standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD), are paired with fixed field of view (FOV) thermal imagers to provide full daytime/nighttime vision capabilities. The system’s pan stage offers 360° continuous rotation; the tilt stage can be set for one of two modes at -90° viewing and full +90° tilt.
