USB 3.0 Cameras

Lumenera Corporation (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) has released USB 3.0 cameras based on Sony’s EXview HAD II ICX674 sensor. Running 53 fps at full resolution, or 66 at an HDTV resolution of 1920 × 1088, the Lt365R series features memory buffer technology so frames are not lost while running the camera at the sensor’s maximum output. The Lt365R set also has a 2.8 megapixel progressive scan sensor equipped with a global shutter.

Embedded Video Interface

Pleora Technologies (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) has introduced an embedded hardware product for integrating GigE Vision 2.0™-compliant video connectivity into cameras, x-ray detector panels, and imaging systems. The iPORT™ NTx-GigE Embedded Video Interface is now in trials for use in medical, military, and industrial automation applications. Other features of the 37 × 37 × 28 mm iPORT NTx-GigE include Power over Ethernet (PoE) and external power options, combined with power consumption of approximately 2 watts when streaming video at 1 Gb/s. Metadata, such as pre-processing results or the position of a quadrature encoder, can be added to each image transmitted over the GigE link. The IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol synchronizes multiple cameras and imaging devices to a network master clock, with up to 1 μs (microsecond) precision.

Product of the Month: The Objet500 Connex3 Color Multi-Material 3D Printer

Stratasys, Eden Prairie, MN, has introduced the Objet500 Connex3 color multi-material 3D printer, the first 3D printer to combine colors with multi-material 3D printing. It features triple-jetting technology that combines droplets of three base materials to produce parts with virtually unlimited combinations of rigid, flexible, and transparent color materials, as well as color digital materials, all in a single print run. Similar to a 2D inkjet printer, three different color materials (VeroCyan, VeroMagenta, and VeroYellow) are combined to produce hundreds of vivid colors. These color materials join the PolyJet photopolymer materials, including digital materials, rigid, rubber-like, transparent, and high-temperature materials, to simulate standard and high-temperature engineering plastics. The printer features six palettes for rubber-like Tango colors, ranging from opaque to transparent colors in various shore values.

Product of the Month: The APN Series Power Monitoring Sensor

NK Technologies, San Jose, CA, has introduced the APN Series power monitoring sensor that measures three phases of current and voltage, and computes 14 values necessary to track power usage in the RS-485 Modbus RTU format. The monitor uses current transformers to measure the amperes. The line voltage connects directly to the transducer, up to 600 VAC. The unit’s RS-485 Modbus RTU format is compatible with many programmable logic controllers, and fits into industrial communications networks, both hard-wired and wireless, depending on the application. It can be configured to accept standard 5-amp current transformer inputs or sensors producing 333 mVAC proportional to the AC current of the circuit. The primary circuit voltage is connected directly to the monitor for 600 VAC or lower, or through a potential transformer for monitoring circuits of higher potentials. The APN is powered from an external supply, and provides a pulse contact to open and close as Watt hours are accumulated.

Quadrant Photodiode

Opto Diode (Newbury Park, CA) has introduced the SXUVPS4C, a quadrant photodiode with a 5 mm2 active area in each quadrant. The new device is the first of two new SXUV multi-element photodiodes to be introduced. The TO-5 windowless package features a 5-pin header. With light responsivity from 1 to 1000 nm and a shunt resistance of 100 Mohms, the new quadrant photodiode is ideal for 2 axes-positional-centering applications for lasers in the 13.5 nm to 200 nm wavelength range. Operating and storage temperatures range from -10 degrees C to 40 degrees C (ambient) and from -20 degrees C to 80 degrees C (in nitrogen or vacuum conditions). The maximum junction temperature is 70 degrees C and the lead-soldering temperature is 260 degrees C at 0.080 in. from the case for 10 seconds.
