Rotary Stages

Aerotech (Pittsburgh, PA) offers the MPS-GR series rotary stages available in two sizes: the MPS50GR and MPS75GR. They incorporate wormgear drive and bearing components for repeatable positioning, and are available with DC servo or stepper motors and either a 20-mm (MPS50GR) or 30-mm (MPS75GR) clear aperture. The clear aperture allows the stages to address applications requiring a through-hole or accommodations to mount an optic, including articulation of beam polarizing lenses, through-holes for cabling or air lines, or vision/camera/inspection applications. The DC servomotors for the stages are equipped with a square-wave rotary encoder, and the MPS75GR includes a manual adjustment knob.

Measuring Wheel Encoder

Baumer (Southington, CT) offers the MA20 measuring wheel encoder for flexible position and speed feedback for conveyor systems. The two-in-one device combines a high-resolution optical incremental encoder and a precise measuring wheel. Capable of resolutions as high as 25,000 ppr, the encoder provides precise measuring results at very low conveyor speeds. The encoder’s HEX switch allows the user to select from 16 predefined resolutions between 100 and 25,000 ppr.

Linear Stages

Hydraulic Relay Valves

MICO (North Mankato, MN) offers hydraulic-over-air relay valves designed to convert hydraulic modulated input pressure to a proportional output air pressure. The relay valves are suited for various on- and off-highway applications, such as controlling an air-braked trailer with a hydraulically braked towing vehicle that has an air power source. The system originates with a hydraulic vehicle component, such as a master cylinder or hydraulic control valve, which delivers a given hydraulic input pressure. This input pressure sends a pilot signal to the relay valve in order to modulate air brake pressure on the other end.

MEMS Accelerometer

Silicon Designs (Kirkland, WA) has introduced the model 2276 accelerometer with four-wire threaded removable connector. It offers continuous operation to +125°C (+250°F) when used with an 8-32V power supply. It is designed for zero- to medium-frequency applications, offering integral amplification and high-drive, lowimpedance buffering. Users can exchange, move, reposition, and replace accelerometers within a given test setup. The accelerometer produces two analog voltage outputs and supports both singleended and differential modes. Signal outputs are fully differential about a 2.5V common mode voltage. Sensitivity is independent from the supply voltage of +8 to +32V. At zero acceleration, the output differential voltage is nominally 0 VDC; at full-scale acceleration, the output differential voltage is ±4 VDC.

Sensorless Motor Driver

Koford Engineering (Winchester, OH) offers the S24V30A sensorless motor driver with 37 kHz pwm frequency for use with standalone, digital, or analog operation. The drive has no minimum inductance and will operate slotless or ironless brushless motors without the need for inductors. The drives can be operated in standalone mode with a speed pot or with an 0-5V analog input or a 5V pwm input from a microcontroller or microprocessor. The motor is turned off for an PW input between 0 and .5 Volts. Once power supply, motor, and speed pot (if used) are connected, the motor can be operated without the need for any adjustments, setup, or programming.

Load Carrier

Amacoil (Aston, PA) has introduced a linear bearing slide load carrier to enhance the load carrying efficiency of Uhing traverse drives and to prevent them from slipping. The load carrier protects the rolling ring bearings from undue wear by assuring that weight and radial forces are not transmitted to the shaft-bearing interface. Supported by end supports and guide rails, and riding on linear bearings, the load carrier accepts the full force of any payload attached to the Uhing traverse. Two yokes extend down from the load carrier. The traverse pushes against the yokes to move the load linearly. The yokes are not screwed or bolted to the traverse, so no forces are placed on the traverse other than the lateral resistance to movement of the load carrier.
