Induction Motor Reverser

Teledyne Relays (Hawthorne, CA) has introduced the Series EMCRT solid-state, three-phase induction motor reverser that can be used to turn on an industrial motor in either direction. The maximum current is 50 Amps. The EMCRT48D50 model operates at 400 Vac, 4 kW, while the EMCRT48D75 operates at 400 Vac, 7.5 kW. Each unit measures 3.94 × 2.99 × 2.22", and weighs 4.58 ounces.

Linear Actuators

The Bug series of linear actuators from Ultra Motion (Mattituck, NY) includes ABEC-7 angular contact bearings and interchangeable motor mounting plates. A Kevlar drive belt and pulleys provide 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1 drive ratios with low backlash and low audible noise by eliminating gears between the motor and the drive screw. There are 17 motor options including DC, DC servo, DC gearmotors, steppers, and Animatic Smart Motors. Absolute position feedback is available so that position is remembered if power is lost.

The encoders are available in a range of shaft diameter sizes from 52 to 413 mm.

The switchable tension stepper enables a user to adjust to another tension level for regular winding speed and have another tension level for deceleration and tapping. Wire Draw Encoders

SICK Stegmann (Dayton, OH) has released the PRF incremental wire draw encoders providing resolution to 0.025 mm at lengths to 50 m. They are available with HTL or TTL interfaces. The encoders consist of the wire draw mechanism and an encoder. The rotation of the drum is proportional to the length being measured. The drum rotation is converted to an incremental signal, which is transmitted by a standard rotary encoder.
