Brushless DC Motors

PITTMAN® Motors, a business unit of AMETEK Precision Motion Control (Harleysville, PA), introduced the EC042B brushless DC motor series. The high-torque-density model is designed as a general-purpose servomotor. Its NEMA 17 mounting configuration is adaptable to most metric mounting requirements. The motors are available in three motor lengths with a continuous torque range of 11 Ncm – 31 Ncm, and a peak torque range of 35 Ncm – 99 Ncm. It has a maximum speed of 9,000 rpm and can be used with DC bus voltages up to 96V. There are eight standard winding variations, with custom windings available. The motor construction features a 4-pole rotor with rare earth magnets for high torque-to-inertia ratio. The stator assembly is designed with low-loss materials for higher-speed applications. The motor shaft is supported by shielded ball bearings that are preloaded. The motors are available with optional planetary gearboxes and optical incremental encoders with line counts up to 2,048, three channels, and line driver.
