Frame Grabber

The PIXCI® SV5L low-profile composite and S-Video PCI frame grabber from EPIX, Buffalo Grove, IL, acquires video from NTSC, RS-170, PAL, CCIR, or S-Video cameras. A 3-input video multiplexer allows signal selection from two mini-BNC inputs or one S-Video. SMA connectors provide TTL Trigger In and Strobe Out. Digitized video is transferred via DMA to the host computer’s PCI bus as fast as the bus will allow and with minimal delay. Included XCAP-Lite software provides adjustments to gain, hue, brightness, saturation, and contrast. It can run up to 8 PIXCI® SV5L frame grabbers in one computer.

The options range from economical VGA resolution cameras, to 210 frames-per-second high-speed cameras, to a five-megapixel, high-precision model. X Capacitor Discharge ICs

Power Integrations (San Jose, CA) has launched CAPZero™, a family of two-terminal, automatic X capacitor discharge ICs that eliminate power losses while allowing power supplies to comply with safety standards. When AC voltage is applied, CAPZero blocks current flow in the X capacitor safety discharge resistors, reducing the power wasted in these components to zero at 230 VAC. When the AC voltage is disconnected, it automatically and safely discharges the X capacitor by closing the circuit through the bleed resistors and directing the energy away from the exposed AC plug. It is offered with 825V or 1000V MOSFETs in an SO-8 package.
