Streamlined and Highly-accurate Inspection: Turning to Innovative Optical Portable Measurement with New Software Approach

Over the past 30 years, the development of portable measuring devices changed tremendously. This has brought inspection right into the production line and far from the comfort of metrology labs where qualified inspectors operate digital CMMs fitted with heavy, stable granite tables. In production environments, the operators’ varying experience and skills levels and permanent vibrations generated by production equipment are daily challenges.

Optimization with COMSOL Multiphysics

This Webinar introduces the optimization capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics. Traditional finite element modeling often treats the analysis step as distinct, as the last hurdle to overcome in the design process. In the modern CAD/CAE workflow, engineers instead want direct feedback and immediate suggestions for improvements. The COMSOL Multiphysics environment allows you to optimize over geometric variables, material values, shape, or any other parameters within your model. Extend your multiphysics modeling capabilities beyond traditional analysis and find the best designs earlier, faster, and easier than ever before.

Additive Manufacturing 101: Changing the Future of Product Development and Manufacturing

Additive manufacturing technologies are also commonly known as "Rapid Prototyping" or "3D Printing" as well as other names. And, although they are still being used by design engineers for concept modeling and prototyping, that’s not all. Manufacturing engineers are now employing these technologies for various applications such as jigs, fixtures, check gauges, and even as a bridge-to-tooling and low-volume end-use parts.

Aviation Thermal Management - Survivability of Mission Critical Electronic Components for Commercial and Military Aircraft

One of the challenges for Manned and Unmanned Aircraft Systems is the cooling of flight-critical avionics that must be maintained below a specific temperature for mission success. Extreme operational and survival temperature requirements, thermal cycling, the drive towards reduced avionics system volume, accelerations due to take-off and in-flight maneuvers, and the lack of effective heat sinks further exacerbate the problem. Examples of products that are directly applicable to these manned and unmanned systems include heat pipes and heat pipe related assemblies. These products can typically address the thermal problems in aircraft in one or more of the following manners: Heat pipes that provide low thermal resistance paths between critical electronic components and heat sinks. HiK or high conductivity plates with embedded heat pipes that provide highly effective heat spreading or transport at low mass and cost.
