Linear Encoder

MICRONOR (Newbury Park, CA) introduced the MR303 linear position sensor system for OEM motion control applications. With 100-μm resolution and 50-μm accuracy, the encoder is suitable for medical, MRI, robotic, and industrial applications where position and speed must be precisely monitored, and electromagnetic immunity and invisibility is required. The sensor works in conjunction with the MR302-2 OEM controller that enables the sensor to integrate with conventional PLC controllers and servo drives. Rotary Encoders

POSITAL (Hamilton, NJ) released programmable incremental rotary encoders, en - ab l ing performance characteristics such as resolution (number of pulses per turn) and incremental pulse direction (A before B or B before A) to be modified by changing firmware parameters. The characteristics of the output driver can similarly be set to either Push-Pull (HTL) or RS422 (TTL). The encoders are based on magnetic measurement technology, and are compact and resistant to shock and vibration loadings. Resolution can be set in the range of 1 to 16,384 pulses per turn. They are available with high-performance seals for use in extreme environmental conditions. For Free Info Visit http://info.hotims.com/55594-303

Brushless DC Motors

PITTMAN® Motors, a business unit of AMETEK Precision Motion Control (Harleysville, PA), introduced the EC042B brushless DC motor series. The high-torque-density model is designed as a general-purpose servomotor. Its NEMA 17 mounting configuration is adaptable to most metric mounting requirements. The motors are available in three motor lengths with a continuous torque range of 11 Ncm – 31 Ncm, and a peak torque range of 35 Ncm – 99 Ncm. It has a maximum speed of 9,000 rpm and can be used with DC bus voltages up to 96V. There are eight standard winding variations, with custom windings available. The motor construction features a 4-pole rotor with rare earth magnets for high torque-to-inertia ratio. The stator assembly is designed with low-loss materials for higher-speed applications. The motor shaft is supported by shielded ball bearings that are preloaded. The motors are available with optional planetary gearboxes and optical incremental encoders with line counts up to 2,048, three channels, and line driver. Service Robots Use Flat Motors to Provide Reliable, Safe Motion

Unlike industrial robots for manufacturing, service robots come with their own specification requirements aimed specifically at the end user, and the most discriminating user at that — a human being. That’s why designing and manufacturing service robots takes a particular set of skills and engineering expertise.
