PI L.P. (Auburn, MA) introduced NEXLINE®, a high-force, sub-nanometer resolution linear actuator for telescopic precision. Based on the PiesoWalk® drive principle, the all-ceramic, high stiffness actuators provide pushing/holding forces to 600 N and a resolution better than 0.1 nanometer. They can be run in analog mode for active vibration cancellation and dithering and can operate in magenetic fields or in vacuums. Standard NEXLINE® actuators up to 20 mm are available, although custom and OEM units are feasible.
