PI, L.P. (Auburn, MA) has introduced the E-621.CR modular controller for piezo-driven nanopositioning systems that features high-bandwidth analog and networkable digital interfaces. The controller integrates a low-noise piezo power amplifier, a high-speed servo controller, sensor electronics for absolute-measuring capacitive nanopositioning sensors, and 20-bit A/D and D/A converters.
The controller can be operated as a standalone system or plugged into an available chassis with up to 12 slots for multi-axis applications. One additional channel at a time can be added. The controller is designed for automated applications comprising several independent motion axes, such as XY line scans combined with nanofocusing devices. They are available in three versions, supporting piezo positioning systems with strain gauge sensors, inductive sensors, and capacitive sensors.
