Ophir-Spiricon (Logan, UT) has introduced the PD10-IR-pJ photodiode energy sensors. It extends the low measurement capability to the NIR range, covering from 800 to 1800nm, and is designed for low-energy military applications, such as remote sensing. It measures very low energies, either single short or repetitive, up to 10 kHz. The device uses a 5mm aperture germanium photodiode to measure pulse energies in the 200 pJ to 20 nJ range.
