The OptoproxTM from Balluff, Inc. (Florence, KY) is a photoelectric sensor that offers the mounting, aligning, and handling of an inductive proximity sensor without the range limitations of a prox. The device has a focused red light beam with a fixed sensing range up to 23 mm. Applications include presence sensing, exact background suppression, positioning, controlling, and monitoring of discrete and process automation sequences. The device may target very small objects and sense black plastic, metal, and rubber parts.
