From Maxon Motors (Fall River, MA), the EC-max 16 2-wire brushless motor features ironless winding, and its turns are detent-free. The commutation electronics are integrated, and allow direct control with an operating voltage of between 5 and 15 V. The motor turns proportionate to the applied voltage with the relevant speed in a given direction. The unit generates continuous torque of up to 3.4 mNm. The housing features, when combined with a metal flange, include temperature stability, heat elimination, and shielding against electrical fields. Dimensions are 16 mm in diameter and 33.6 mm long. The nominal output is 5 W. A 16-mm-diameter planetary gearhead can be added to increase inertia up to a maximum of 0.3 Nm.
