Hybrid Stepper Motors

AMETEK Technical and Industrial Products (Kent, OH) has unveiled its MAE brand hybrid stepper motors in three series for high performance positioning applications. The HY Series steppers, in sizes 16, 17, 23, and 42, exhibit low rotor inertia to maximize possible acceleration.

The HN Series motor, in size 34, provide a calculated balance between low rotor inertia and high torque, while the HS Series motors, in sizes 17, 23, and 34, are designed to generate high torque.

Holding torque characteristics range from 12 oz-in. to 2018 oz-in., depending on model. The HN and HS models exhibit low detent torque to holding torque ratios, making for smoother operation and allowing the fine positioning capability for microstepping.

Step resolutions range up to 1.8 degrees (200 steps/rev) in full-step mode. The motors are CE approved and can be supplied with 4, 6, or 8 leads and single or double-ended shafts upon request. Options include gearboxes, encoders, shaft details, and leadwire-connector assemblies.
