Designed for optics testing, dBm Optics’ (Boulder, CO) Model 4200 Tunable Laser Source offers 2,000 nm/s tuning across 150 nm. A low-noise version is available for measurements requiring high dynamic range, such as the characterization of fiber-Bragg gratings. A high-power version, with greater than 8 dBm (6 mw) of output power across the entire tuning range, is also available. A variety of options, which can be built directly into the instrument, include wavelength reference, VOA, and polarization controller/scrambler. The 4200 comes with an easy-to-use color touch screen, or button operation. A computer can be used to set and monitor parameters through Ethernet, USB, and GPIB (IEEE 488).
